What is this?

A way of casting magic in fantasy games that ties you to a personal pantheon of Small Gods that you must entreat to gain Blessings to aid you in casting magic. That magic comes at a cost - Bones.

What you’ll need.

A handful of dice ranging from d6s to d12s or similarly arranged dice. Something to keep track of your gods.

What’s the intent?

To ground your magic in personal deities that have generally small but tangible effects on your character. To present magic as something a bit more unpredictable and costly. To allow for more freeform magical casting without set magical effects. To roll a bunch of dice and interpret what the results mean for you, your magic, and your gods.

I feel like this could pair nicely with the ideas of “Your Body, An Altar”, with this providing the spheres of influence of a spirit/god and yb,aa providing the framework of “form, desire, fear”, and maybe Geondic Beastiary or the Metamorphica for the appearance/form.

Ooh, that sounds like some great mashup potential (Your Body, An Altar is fantastic). If you end up doing something along those lines in a game let me know how it goes!
