SYZYGY is a rules-light role playing game where players take on the roles of wandering, exploring, Mendicants in a vibrant science fantasy world.

This is the untested, still mostly experimental version (or at least one version) of what will eventually become a larger game.

I'm curious about what the inspirations for this game are.

It seems to me that Numenera and Destiny both match the implied setting pretty well.

Going in a different direction, I can also see possibilities for Princess Mononoke and Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind.

Destiny tends to influence a lot of my stuff honestly. For this one in particular, Nausicaa is another great touchstone, and Hyper Light Drifter was also one my mind (particularly for an unreleased, older, much larger version of this game). Lots of bits and pieces of different things really!

Does harm to enemies reduce the amount of damage they can do and if so, does 0 damage mean that they are taken out?

As written, enemies don't have HP and are defeated when it best makes sense (also I didn't have room in this version!). Having the damage be a stand-in for HP is a good idea though.

What if any, is the distinction between Consequences and Special Consequences?

They're the same thing! Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks.

Thought that might be the case, but I always prefer clarity where I can get it!
